Next up in our Summer City Guides series we’re headed to the Sunshine State with 10 awesome things to do in Orlando with kids! Theme parks are the obvious attraction for families visiting Orlando- with Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, Legoland and Busch Gardens all located right in and around Orlando. But there’s so much more to this summer destination than just theme parks! Check out our list of other great things to do in Orlando with kids.

1. Add a Splash of Color at the Crayola Experience

The Crayola Experience is all about color! Learn how your favorite crayons are made with the Crayon Factory Show, see the world’s largest crayon, create beautiful works of art in the Activity Studio, immerse yourself in color in the Adventure Lab, play on the two story tall Color Playground and shop for all your favorite colors in the Crayola Shop!

2. Explore the Orlando Science Center

Mix up your theme park adventures with a little learning at the Orlando Science Center. The Orlando Science Center has a huge collection of exhibits to explore including the science of food, the ecosystems of Florida, the Kinetic Zone which explores energy, Fusion- a STEAM gallery, Dino Digs, and a planetary exhibit that explores thermosphere, biosphere, geosphere and hydrosphere. Kids will absolutely love the HIVE, a hands-on maker space filled with all sorts of tech and tools where they can turn their creative ideas into reality!

3. Head to the Water Park

There are five awesome water parks right in Orlando if you’re looking for a way to cool off! Disney has two water parks- Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Universal Studios has Volcano Bay, the Legoland Florida Water Park is Lego brick themed, and Sea World has Aquatica Orlando which is best known for it’s Dolphin Plunge, where riders slide down an enclosed tube while passing through pools of dolphins!

4. Ride the Wheel at ICON Park

Icon Park is an entertainment destination in Orlando where you can visit Madam Tussaud’s, the Sea Life Orlando Aquarium and the Museum of Illusions. The Wheel at Icon Park is a 400 foot observation Ferris wheel that offers amazing views of Orlando. On a clear day, you can even see all the way to the Kennedy Space Center! There’s also lots of great dining and shopping at ICON Park so it’s a great way to spend an entire evening.

5. Visit Gatorland

Want to get up close and personal with the alligators? Gatorland offers numerous shows and alligator experiences, including a behind the scenes tour where you can get up close (safely!) with the alligators. They also have a zip line experience and the opportunity to be a trainer for a day so you can learn all about caring for the gators!

6. Fly High at the Orlando Circus School

Ever wanted to run away and join the circus?! Now’s your chance! If you’re looking for one of the most unique things to do in Orlando with kids, check out the Orlando Circus School where you can take a flying trapeze class! Kids ages 6 and up can defy gravity by learning to fly through the air on the trapeze!

7. Explore the Titanic Artifact Exhibit

Step back in time as you explore the world’s most famous shipwreck. The Titanic Artifact Exhibit tells the story of the ill-fated Titanic with over 200 artifacts recovered from the shipwreck. There are three different guided tour experiences, including a tour designed specifically for children, plus you enjoy the Titanic Dinner Gala as you recreate one of the dinner parties aboard the ship while enjoying a gourmet meal!

8. Go on a Safari at Giraffe Ranch

Giraffe Ranch is a Florida wildlife park and giraffe farm. You can take a tour in the comfort of your own car or if you want to get a little closer to the action you can take a Segway tour through the park. For a truly unique safari experience- you can go on a camel ride or a llama a trek through the park to see the giraffes and dozens of other animals!

9. Take a Glass Bottom Boat Tour of Silver Springs State Park

Located just over an hour north of Orlando is one of America’s largest springs. You can take a tour of these crystal clear waters on a glass bottom boat! You’ll see numerous species of fish, ancient Native American and Spanish artifacts and even movie props under the water from old Hollywood productions that filmed in the springs! You can also rent kayaks, stand up paddle boards or canoes to paddle down the crystal clear Silver River

10. Climb the Trees at Tree Trek Adventure Park

Kids have a little extra energy? Take them to the Tree Trek Adventure Park where they can explore the treetops adventure courses and ride the zip lines! There are 97 aerial challenges at the park with two separate kids courses featuring 21 challenges designed especially for kids. Plus you can ride the gigantic 425 foot zip line for an awesome adventure!
