Now, we’ve done some pretty amazing things to honor and celebrate Mother’s Day, but for 2022 we are stepping our game WAY UP with:

The Mother Land

The Mother City

Mother’s Day!!??!

We are headed to Cape Town (also known as The Mother City) for Mother’s Day 2022.

May 3rd – May 9th, 2022

Location: Cape Town, South Africa

Our Itinerary:

Day 1

WAMKELEKILE!!! (That’s Welcome in Xhosa) It’s welcome day! When you arrive, we’ll get you checked into our hotel. If you arrive early, you’ll have some time to explore on your own.

In the evening, we’ll get together for a Welcome Dinner at an INCREDIBLY special place. We aren’t even easing into the exquisiteness of this experience, we are diving right in.

We’ll be dining at a restaurant that’s much more than dining. It’s truly an experience!

We’ll be presented with 15 courses of tasting plates from all over the continent of Africa. If there’s a dish you want more of simply ask and it will appear.

Day 2

We’ll have breakfast at the hotel, and then jump on the Hop On/Hop Off Bus to see the city. I’ll be honest, I tend to think that HOHO buses are boring…BUT NOT IN CAPE TOWN! There is just so much to see and the city is just so beautiful that it makes for a great HOHO experience.

We’ll get off on a few stops along the way, including Table Mountain, of course. Its hands down the best way to see Cape Town.

Then we’ll head downtown to the Markets because don’t mommas LOVE to shop!?

Afterwards, we’ll head over to one of my favorite parts of the city, Sea Point to enjoy a relaxing bike ride along the waterfront.

Day 3

Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen and I can’t wait to show off it’s beauty to you. Between the breathtaking beaches, the majestic mountains, and the gasp-worthy greenery of the winelands you may hurt your neck taking in all the views!

On Day 3, we’ll drove down the coast to take in the Mother City in all her glory.

We’ll stop at the infamous Muizenberg Beach for a photo shoot to remember!

We’ll stop off to have lunch at a gorgeous winery nestled between a bay and mountains. The view, the food, and the wine will feel like everything we’ve earned!

Did you know there were penguins in Africa!?!?! YEP! Most of us think penguins and we think snow…and when we think snow, we DEFINITELY DO NOT think Africa!

After taking in the sites, we’ll go by one of my favorite restaurants in the city to have dinner. The food, the people, the music all keep me coming back every time I go to Cape Town….that and the inexpensive wine and my favorite desert – Malva pudding.

Day 4

You cannot come to South Africa and not indugle in the country’s wine.

Many don’t realize that there is a vast and booming wine industry in Cape Town that’s older than Napa Valley.

One can spend an entire week visiting wineries and still won’t get to experience them all.

Since the kids aren’t with us, and we aren’t driving, we’ll spend an afternoon touring the Stellenbosch wine region, learning about different grape varietals, sipping the country’s nectar, and enjoying the good vibes a glass (or several glasses) of wine always brings.

Day 5

In the morning, we’ll be scooped up to head out to our Game Lodge for safari.

Once we arrive at our game lodge, we’ll be welcomed with a refreshing drink and a buffet lunch before we get checked in.

Anybody ready to see some animals!!! After we’re fed and refreshed, we’ll head for a game drive to see how many kinds of animals we can spot — elephants, buffalo, giraffes, gazelles, gnus, hyenas…and even lions!!

FYI, these aren’t stock photos. These are actual cell phone photos we took from the very same safari we’ll be doing!

Day 6

Sunday will be a day of relaxation.

If you choose, you can rise early for another game drive.

Otherwise, our special day will begin with a light breakfast a meditation session.

Brunch will be served especially for our group and we’ll drink all the mimosas we could want…with no children in sight.

We’ll also enjoy spa services at our safari camp and spend the day just relaxing, which is exactly what mothers should be doing on Mother’s Day!

Below are ACTUAL pictures of the spa at the safari camp ya’ll!!! It’s INSANE!

Day 7

Cue Boyz II Men…”it’s so haaaaarrrdd to say goodbyeeeee”. All good things must come to an end and at some point, we’ll have to return to the families who are the reason we get to celebrate ourselves on Mother’s Day.  We’re certain by the end of this trip, we’ll all feel this was a Mother’s Day for the history books!

We’ll add it to our list of INCREDIBLE mother’s day experiences!
